Sadness

water stops
now and then
to collect thoughts
and things
dropped in passing

Breathe

a lost watch
keeps time still
even as
creation
consumes
its creator

Dawn Beckons

the query
captured from rooftop
slowly unfurls
to fall freely
and gather
rearranged

Children Of Sea And Basin

unnamed ships
never dock
nor come to bay
leave by shadow
like moonlit bottles
unwashed
unresting
despairing
shamed
hurried past
disparate shores
though wandering
with aim

In Pursuit Of Truth

what do you believe
in
if not in god
pursuit
where is comfort
of truth
if not his
the question
who proclaims
must be asked
I am
with the purpose
holy
not to be right
now
but to be challenged

The Testament

pull out the propositions
statues of limitations
listless and irritated
faceless yet imitated
powerless
profane
projecting from parchment
black on white
to men
to women
to kids
to
this
the mind
synapses
fired
impulses
rewired
cooperation
required
even if
uninspired
product of repetition
collective indecision
culture from collusion
from pen
to paper
to product

The Graduates

white wash
stone face
street dead
silent

bourgeois meat
daily served
requests filled
directly

mexican men
african girls
indian food
discreetly

packaged new
resale class
highest bid
rising

cold eyes
dug deep
black face
mine

The Darkness

There once was a boy
who crawled in a cave
searching for a great treasure.

He hoped for a prize
of silver and diamonds;
wealth beyond any man's measure.

Standing prepared,
quite healthy and able,
he descended beyond the preceded.

But, in the end,
despite preparation,
his greed nearly had him defeated.

For far down below
he fell and he lost
the light which had led him thus safely.

There in the dark,
mind drifting away,
he swore he heard voices singing:

"All the day we fall and stray
hoping for the light of day.
Tender hands and softened knees,
reminders of our dread disease
which curses still our lives and dreams,
and leads us far from our sole needs."
